New Delhi, India, October 10, 2026 — Indian YouTuber Dhruv Rathee was detained by Delhi Police in Gurugram ahead of a protest called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on Saturday at 10 am, according to media reports.
Reports said police detained Rathee at his residence in Gurugram before he could attend the demonstration.
Authorities imposed extensive security and transport restrictions in the national capital ahead of the protest. Mobile internet services were suspended within a four-kilometre radius of the Jantar Mantar area from 10 pm on Friday until 10 pm on Saturday.
Restrictions were also imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), while media reports said police were detaining suspected protesters from early morning.
Rail and metro services were also affected. According to media reports, 254 trains were cancelled between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday, while entry and exit were restricted at 45 metro stations as part of security measures.
